Prof. Dr. Serkan Keskin
Head of the Oncology Center at Memorial Şişli Hospital in İstanbul. A specialist in lung cancer, solid tumors, and immunotherapy with over fifteen years of clinical practice. Founder of the Memorial Şişli Oncology Center.
Biography
Prof. Dr. Serkan Keskin is a distinguished medical oncologist who trained at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine before completing his internal medicine residency and medical oncology fellowship at the Istanbul University Oncology Institute. His fellowship, completed in 2013, gave him rigorous grounding in the systemic treatment of solid tumors with a particular emphasis on lung cancer and novel immunotherapeutic approaches.
In 2015, he founded and began leading the Memorial Şişli Oncology Center, building it into a comprehensive cancer care unit that brings together medical oncology, surgical oncology, and radiation oncology under a unified multidisciplinary tumor board. Under his direction, the center has become a referral destination for complex lung cancer cases requiring molecular profiling and precision-targeted treatment plans.
Prof. Dr. Keskin's clinical focus centers on non-small cell and small cell lung cancer, where he applies the latest checkpoint inhibitors and targeted therapies guided by genomic testing. He is an active participant in international clinical trials and regularly presents at ESMO and ASCO conferences. His multidisciplinary tumor board approach ensures that every patient's case is reviewed by a team of specialists before a treatment plan is finalized.

Istanbul University Oncology Institute
Clinical and academic career at Istanbul University Oncology Institute, where he developed his expertise in lung cancer and solid tumor management before joining Memorial.
Areas of Expertise
Lung Cancer
Comprehensive management of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC), including molecular profiling, immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors, and targeted therapy based on driver mutations such as EGFR, ALK, and ROS1.
Solid Tumors
Systemic treatment of gastrointestinal, genitourinary cancers, and sarcomas, with individualized chemotherapy and targeted therapy protocols coordinated through multidisciplinary tumor boards.
Immunotherapy
Checkpoint inhibitors (anti-PD-1, anti-PD-L1, anti-CTLA-4) and combination immunotherapy regimens for eligible solid tumor patients, including access to the latest clinical trial protocols.
Targeted Therapy
Biomarker-driven selection of targeted drugs based on next-generation sequencing and molecular profiling, matching each patient to the therapy most likely to benefit their specific tumor biology.
Approach to Patient Care
Prof. Dr. Keskin's practice is built around the multidisciplinary tumor board model: every patient's case is presented to a panel of medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and radiologists before a treatment plan is set. This approach ensures that no perspective is overlooked and that each plan reflects the combined expertise of the entire team.
For international patients, Prof. Dr. Keskin and his team provide personalized treatment plans with clear timelines, coordinate all logistics including accommodation and transport, and ensure that pathology and imaging are reviewed against both European and American guidelines. Every consultation is available with a medical interpreter, and patients receive a comprehensive written plan they can share with their physicians at home.
